Forbes released its list of the five richest rappers of 2017 earlier this week, and Kanye West didn’t make the cut. A new report now claims the musician is “furious” over the supposed snub, but Gossip Cop can clear up the situation.

Sean Diddy Combs topped this year’s list of the wealthiest hip-hop artists with a net worth of $820 million. Rounding out the rest of the top five were Jay Z ($810 million), Dr. Dre ($740 million), Birdman ($110 million) and Drake ($90 million). But HollywoodLife is now purporting that West is upset about not being included among the most financially successful rappers.

A so-called “source” tells the webloid that West “doesn’t think everyone should be there, mainly Drake.” The seemingly nonexistent insider adds, in bizarrely unnatural language, “He’s happy for Jay Z, 47, but deep down he competes with HOVA on everything and that royally crushed his spirits when he learned Jay made it but he didn’t.” Gossip Cop couldn’t tell you why HollywoodLife’s “source” felt the need to mention Jay Z’s age.

The site’s alleged insider goes on to say that West is scheming to make the list next year by disappearing for a while to write new music. “He’s on a mission to crush all these rappers and wants everyone to watch the throne because he’s coming for it,” adds the webloid’s questionable source.

Of course, Forbes’ list of the richest rappers is based on financial statistics and not the magazine’s opinion. It makes little sense that West would be angry about being left off a ranking that he didn’t quantitatively earn. That would be like 5-foot 3-inch former NBA star Muggsy Bogues being upset that he wasn’t included on a list of the world’s tallest basketball players. As you might also recall, West tweeted in 2016 that he was $53 million in debt, a reference to the money he poured into his last album and other endeavors.

Regardless of the site’s article being completely absurd, Gossip Cop still checked in with a reliable source close to West, who exclusively assures us he isn’t “furious” about Forbes’ list or resentful of the artists on it. It should be noted, HollywoodLife is the same outlet that repeatedly published bogus stories about the rapper’s hospitalization last year.

Gossip Cop previously busted the site for falsely claiming West was performing at the Grammys after his hospital release. We also called out the outlet for wrongly alleging Kim Kardashian blamed herself for West’s hospitalization. There was no truth to those tall tales, and the webloid’s latest report is no more accurate.
